Program Description

Event Details

Humankind evolved having a symbiotic relationship with plants, and through their inherent medicinal properties, we can gain knowledge (and foresight) into how to heal our bodies. At the beginning of the 21st century, we are rediscovering our herbal roots.  The leaves, twigs, bark, berries, flowers, and roots of traditional medicine are ready and available to serve us in the city too.  This introductory program will cover terminology, body systems, 17 (or more) herbs for your cupboard, the how-to of preparation and dosages, case studies, and ample time for questions.  Bring a notebook!

While practicing as a medicinal herbalist for the past 35 years, Marguerite Dunne has earned a double master’s degree in education, certification in herbology, and been a Doctor of Naturopathy candidate. An adjunct instructor of Biology at Marist College for twelve years in herbs and nutrition, she has given historic herb lectures, written articles,  made media appearances, owned a health food store, consulted with doctors and the health food industry, and had her own radio program, The Urban Herbalist.  A member of the American Herbalists Guild and the American Botanical Council, she is also profiled as the featured herbalist in the recently published book, “The New Healers” by Dr. Barbara Stevens Barnum.  Marguerite’s first full-length book, "A Wild Thyme in the City" has just been released and is available on Amazon.
