Program Description

Event Details

Come celebrate Jane Austen’s 250th birthday year with an evening of lively discussion about all things Austen!  Professor John Bugg of Fordham University will lead a discussion of Austen’s final book Persuasion published in 1811.  He’ll also share a letter Austen wrote after attending a party in London that will help us explore her priorities and craft as a writer.  A must-attend event for Austen fans!
Refreshments will be served. We recommend you read or re-read Persuasion!

This program is in partnership with the Village Bookstore of Pleasantville.

John Bugg is author of Five Long Winters: The Trials of British Romanticism (Stanford University Press, 2014) and British Romanticism and Peace (Oxford University Press, 2022).
